It’s Time to Rethink Breast Cancer

By Ashley Shantz

The Red & White Ball supports Rethink Breast Cancer, a new bread of breast cancer charity that bans scary awareness ads and sheds light on the fact that it’s not just an “old lady disease.” Now in its tenth year, The Red & White Ball is a chance to get dolled up and look breast cancer in the face. I chatted with Dalia Naami, 2012 event chairman, to learn more:

What is your role within the company?

I lead the planning of the event with the support of my team.

When is this year’s ball and when can our readers find tickets?

This year’s Red & White Ball is Friday, April 20th, 2012. Tickets will be available for sale beginning in February.

Can you tell me a little bit more about the event?

The Red & White Ball sees 500 of Toronto's trendiest and most influential young professionals gather together to lend their support and open their hearts in support of breast cancer. Last year we raised $18,000. The event’s theme, Red & White, is derived from the deconstruction of pink, the colour traditionally associated with breast cancer. The colours red and white are symbolic of the hope and passion that fuel the relentless research efforts that will one day lead to a cure for this devastating disease.

How is the money raised from the Red & White Ball used?

The funds support new projects, programs or initiatives spearheaded by young breast cancer survivors to help relieve suffering and improve the quality of life of young women with breast cancer, specifically supporting work that is innovative and creative.

Any last words?

We look forward to another successful event and hope you can join us!
